Support for Regional Communities of Practice

Funding has been allocated by the SADC Regional Environmental Education Programme to establish Regional Communities of Practice in the SADC region.

The aim of the CoP programme is to enable environmental education and Education for Sustainable Development practitioners in the SADC region to strengthen environmental education and sustainability processes for equitable and sustainable environmental management choices and poverty alleviation. This will be achieved through enhanced and strengthened EE/ESD policy, networking, resource materials (including Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)), training and capacity-building, research and evaluation.

In order to strengthen the networking and partnership activities, the Programme is identifying and documenting existing EE/ESD networks, with the intention of identifying the strengths, learning capabilities in diverse communities of practice that exist for EE/ESD development across southern Africa. The long term aim is for the Programme to provide and support a system of networked links of communities of practice in each of the SADC member states in the next three years.

The Programme is seeking information on the existing EE/ESD communities of practice (Networks in the SADC Region). EE/ESD practitioners are being requested to help identify existing EE/ESD communities of practice their countries. Provision of the following details will be much appreciated

A short description of the focus of the community of practice (read EE/ESD network)

Contact persons (including: email, telephone, website etc )

A project document or any project documentation such as brochure etc where applicable, would be much appreciated.
